12 weeks!

ok...here we are, baby and i at 12 weeks! the baby is about the size of a plum or lime depending on which book you read :) i have gained about 3 pounds since the start of babyville...not too shabby! we go and see the doctor next week for our check up. i am pretty excited to be entering the 2nd trimester and putting the utter exhaustion and morning sickness behind me. i have gone 3 days without needing saline crackers to start my day, so i think things are looking up :)

naps!

yep...naps! a very close friend in your first trimester of pregnancy! we have been doing pretty good with the pregnancy. some morning sickness, but only nausea and plenty of yawns :) the girls are great when it comes to mommy's nap time...they join in the fun and great sports about it! We have been walking around the block with dad, so we get some excercise in too. it is hard to believe that we are approaching the end of the first trimester soon, it has gone so fast...and it will only go faster! we are a little over 11 weeks and feeling pretty good, for the most part. still no mommy pictures yet...but i should probably put one up of a before belly bump so we have something to compare to. i will maybe work that courage up later this weekend!!

something else to chase...

Come January 2011, the girls will have a new toy to play with, in the form of a baby! Thats right, these girls are going to be big sisters :) They aren't all that excited, how do you tell a dog you are pregnant? Even though, something tells me that they can sense it...they have some changes coming!! I am pretty sure Jade is going to be the kid's shadow, she loves to follow kids around the house who come over and visit. She sniffs them up and down, and prefers the diaper area :) Tess, she is up for anything, she will be interested, but will keep her distance. We are very excited about our growing household. So, this will probably turn into the doggie baby blog. Still trying to come up with a cute title. Dog and Mommy/Baby pictures soon to follow...

This thing still exists??

Well, I give you guys credit for checking in on this thing...it has pretty much slipped my mind for the past few months. I do get reminders, some nagging, from people about no updates on the blog...well, i will try to be better about it this summer. Jade and Tess just had birthdays this month, they are 2 and 7 years old respectively. It is hard to believe that Jade is 2 already and that we will have had Tess for almost 3 years! Time flies by :) We have enjoyed almost every minute of them, lets be honest, we would like to kill them every once and a while :) Jade has really mellowed out in the last couple months...if anything, Tess has become our hyper dog! Jade still has few tried and true habits that I don't think she will ever out grow. Like gloves, the dog LOVES GLOVES! Winter gloves, garden gloves, work gloves, rubber gloves, she loves them all. And you need to be careful...because she loves gloves whether your hands are in them or not, and she doesn't care :) And Tess, well, she loves the garden hose. You turn the hose on to water the garden and she follows it around hoping that the water will come over and splash by her so she can bite it. It's rather comical, and she gets SO excited too. The garden hose and her blue or red ball are her favorite toys, hands down :) Jade, she avoids the hose, but loves to take whatever ball Tess is holding and run with it. Another trait that she will probably always have. It has been an interesting year so far, and it will probably only get better. Stay tuned...

Nap Time!!

Oh yes they have beds, but these 2 are couch dogs!! Jade has always enjoyed her naps on the couch with us and Tess was always on the floor. Now, Tess has a bum left hind leg that makes it tough for her to jump up. We have been giving Tess joint supplements for about 2 years now to help with her leg. She has made WONDERFUL improvements...as seen the picture above. She may not jump up on the couch like her little sister, but Tess gets herself up on the couch, something that she would have never been able to do a few years ago. I will have to keep the camera with me one time and video her crawling up! This is picture is a normal afternoon in the Hurd house, nap time on the couch :) Sometimes mom and dad join these 2 sweet girls, but usually they are content all by themselves!!

merry christmas!!

We hope everyone is enjoying the Holiday Season! It has come earlier than ever, just like every other year :) The girls have been doing good. Jade is saying "hello" in the picture above. She is the best watchdog...ever!! She barks at squirrels, cars, even the neighbors walking in their OWN driveway! We have been battling with a bad ear infection in her left ear that has affected her left eye, making it swollen and itchy (you can kind of see in the picture). poor girl has been on benadryl and antibiotics for a good month and we are still having a hard time keeping it at bay. she has been better about scratching her eye...sometimes she would scratch at it so much it would be red and bloody, but I think we are on the better side of this ordeal. The other idea thrown to us was that she may be developing some allergies to her food. I have changed their food to an all natural diet, and they seem to like it. Tess eats anything and Jade only eats the new food. The hope also with this new food is to keep their coats and skin more healthy and ultimately cut down on the shedding (what a blessing that would be!). We haven't seen any dramatic improvements, but it has only been about 3 weeks. Hoping for the best :)

changed dog!

jade and tess spent a week at katie's parents house while we were in disney world at the end of september. they always enjoy going and visiting grandma and grandpa! grandma keeps then entertained :) so entertained that they slept THE WHOLE DAY when they came home. I got a lot done around the house and they got caught up on their sleep! also, jade has been eating regularly ever since she spent time at grandmas...what a great thing that is! now i don't have to worry about tess eating jades food when i am not looking because jade sniffs her food and walks away. it has also be comforting to know that she has been eating on a regular basis, she gets the nutrition she needs :) we have been in and out of the vet more often than normal for us, just little things that we need to get cleared up with some medications. all in all things are good :) still enjoying our walks 4-5 times a week either at the park or around the block, it really wears them out :)
